Description:
THe authors used the twisted cord illusion to demonstrate 1st and 2nd order interactions in orientation processing. The spatial scale of the carrier and envelope determine the magnitude and direction of the interactions. The critical factor is the relative rather than the absolute spatial scale that impact the 2nd order perception biased by the 1st order properties.
Keywords:
1 st-order, 2 nd-order, orienation, spatial scale, illusion, twisted cord, zollner effect, fraser effect
